Scan and Remove Virus Without Starting Windows

Have you ever encountered a computer that is so badly infected by spy ware and virus that the computer is so slow and you could hardly do anything on it? Fully booting in to computer takes like 15 minutes, then to install an on-demand antivirus program takes another 30 minutes and then to update the signatures takes another hour. Running a full scan would definitely take more than an hour. The computer should be cleaned from virus

There are already 4 brands of free rescue CD which is Kaspersky Rescue Disk, Avira AntiVir Rescue System, F-Secure Rescue CD and BitDefender 2008 RescueCD. Here is yet another free antivirus rescue disk from Dr. Web called Dr.Web LiveCD which is very useful to scan and remove virus when the computer is very badly infected by virus.

Dr.Web LiveCD is an anti-virus emergency aid disk that would restore a system that became non-operational due to activities of malware. If a workstation or a server running Windows or Unix won’t boot from a hard drive, Dr.Web LiveCD will clean a system of suspicious and malicious files and will also try to cure infected objects.

Download and Installation:

1.From the link at the end of this article and burn it to a CD.
2.Then boot up the computer with the CD by setting your computer as the first boot device.
3.As loading starts a dialogue window will prompt you to choose between the standard and the safe mode.
4.Make sure that the first option DrWeb-LiveCD is selected and hit the ENTER key. 5.Once finished loading, you will be presented with a really cool nice looking screen that has Start Menu.

There are 2 ways to scan the computer using Dr.Web LiveCD. You can either select Start Dr.Web Scanner to start scanning the hard drive, or select Start XOrg to launch the graphical user interface version of the scanner.

NOTE:
Do take note that the Rescue CDs are NOT meant to replace the real-time antivirus program which protects your computer against malware every second. It is only used when the installed antivirus fails to detect and block the virus.

Lenovo Ideapad S10..!! Preety Simple

This slim portable design is pretty regular-sized at 9.8 x 7.2 x 1.2 inches and is as light as one would expect, at around 2.6 lbs with the 3-cell battery.

First of all, the semi-glossy ivory finish looks very classy and is also fingerprint-resistant, unlike the highly overrated piano finish. The screen is a decently big 10.2inches (1024 x 600 resolution), which makes it a joy for multimedia functions.

The screen has a webcam placed on top of it, with the mic located right below the keyboard. There's not much that one can say about the speakers on the S10. The sound was exactly as we expected – tinny and sharp. If you want quality, use headphones.

The S10 comes with quite a number of ports, namely:

2x USB ports (one on each side)
VGA-out
3-in-1 card reader
ExpressCard slot
Headphone & Mic jacks
Ethernet

The ExpressCard slot is a great addition; not many netbooks feature it. In fact the S10 is generally quite upgradable. Apart from boosting the RAM and HDD, you can also change or upgrade the Wi-Fi card. The internal hard drive is a 160GB 5400 standard 2.5 inch drive.

The S10 comes in only one flavor, and that's Windows XP SP3 Home Edition. After installing all the basic applications and codecs, the Windows bootup time stayes close to a very acceptable 35 seconds(Reports).

At an excellent budget price of Rs 25,000 (MRP), the S10 is well worth the money you spend on it. It's not perfect, but it performs a lot better.

VERDICT:

POSITIVE:

Very bright screen
Comfortable to use
Good expandability options
One-key recovery
Fully featured

NEGATIVE:

3-cell battery
Generates a bit of heat on extended use
Sluggish performance with some HD video

Take Away the Snapshot With Fujifilm FinePix S5800

Before starting this review i would like to share a small story of my 5 days w/o inet in pune

Day1:Holdon
Day2:irritation
Day3:frustration
Day4:Frustration++(programmers will get this term)
Day5:out of order

Snap Factor

The S5800 has a 2.5 inch CCD and a five-way navigation pad with shortcut keys for the gallery, display features, exposure adjustment, and photo mode. On the side of the viewfinder, above the display, is a monitor selector key that switches between the main display for viewing and the viewfinder

The S5800 requires four AA batteries for power and uses XD/SD/MMC cards for memory. It comes with about 28MB of internal memory though. On one side of the camera are the ports for AV-out and USB connectivity. The power switch is located on the top, just behind the shutter release and zoom knob.

Performance

Well the S5800 performs quite well for a superzoom and with 10x zoom, its really rocking for new users.BUt the factor which irritates is the noise factor at night. Also i feel the low light images have lil bad feel.
